The Marseille Municipal Art Studios Award proposed by the city of Marseille, is made possible by Astérides and Triangle France, members of ‘Arts en résidence – Réseau national’.

For the 1st edition of the Marseille Municipal Art Studios Award, the exhibition presents an original selection of artwork by the eleven resident artists of the Marseille municipal art studios: Charlotte Benedittini, Fouad Bouchoucha, Claire Dantzer, Diane Guyot, Gilles Pourtier, Arthur Sirignano, Timothée Talard, Thomas Teurlai, Elvia Teotski, Robin Touchard and Joo-Hee Yang.

For the past twenty years, as part of its cultural policy, Marseille has supported emerging creation by providing artists with eleven art studios at a moderate rent for a duration of 23 months. The studios are located across two sites: Boisson (4th arrondissement) and Lorette (le Panier, 2nd arrondissement).

The Studios Award is organised by the City of Marseille and delivered by Astérides and Triangle France, both members of the national network Arts en résidence. These organisations have been contracted by the city to support the studios’ resident artist, to help them develop their analytical, technical and professional skills. The programme also brings the artists more visibility, and acts as a springboard to the next stage of their career. We aim to showcase artists who have chosen to live and work in this welcoming, cosmopolitan city, whose reputation rests upon its tradition of openness, its strong identity and its singular culture.

The Marseille Municipal Art Studios Award will be attributed by a jury of professionals every other year, at the end of each session of residencies. An exhibition of works by the laureate will be organised in one of Marseille’s public museums.
